Thank you for considering helping K9 Rescue Group (Inc) by fostering our dogs!! Every dog that goes into foster care leaves a kennel space for another dog to take, whether this be a dog from the pound or a private surrender. This helps us to save as many dogs as we can.
There are a number of reasons why a dog might need to go into foster, which includes, but is not limited to: alleviating kennel space for other dogs, medical conditions (e.g: pregnancy, surgery, etc), or simply the dog isn’t coping in the kennel environment and needs a reprieve.
How it works:
We first ask of you to complete our foster application form for our trained staff to review and recommend suitable dogs. Our office manager will contact you to book in a meet and greet where you can meet all suitable dogs.
When you foster a dog, we will provide all of their veterinary work and medication. We would greatly appreciate it if the foster carerr could supply the food, bedding, leads, toys, etc, however we are happy to provide you with some supplies if necessary.
When a foster dog is placed with you they may require some veterinary work to be done. Every dog that arrives in our care is microchipped, vaccinated, flea and worm treated and sterilised. All vet work is completed either on site at K9 Rescue Group or at Halls Head Small Animal Clinic. You may be required to bring the foster dog to us for necessary medical procedures however this will be discussed with you by our team during your meet and greet.
If you are fostering a dog that has an ongoing training plan, you may need to bring them to us when required to work with our trainer.
Any dog that goes into foster with you will be advertised on the K9 Rescue Group (Inc) website and other social media platforms. Anyone that is interested in adopting your foster dog will need to first contact us. From there we will assess any potential adopters. If we determine that they are suitable we will organise a meet-up with you and the foster dog with the potential adopter.
Once you have a K9 Rescue Group (Inc) dog in foster we will keep in regular communication with you so that you can liaise with us about their progress. Letting us know about their progress and personality can help us find the right people to adopt them and so that they can find the best home possible.
