Adoption Process
- Complete our Adoption Application form online or in reception.
- Your application will be reviewed by our team and we will contact you to arrange an appointment for you to meet suitable dogs.
- Meet & Greet
Requirements
We require you to bring along photo ID to your meet and greet, as well as rental permission if you’re in a rental. All members of the household must attend the meet and greet to ensure everyone is compatible and comfortable.
If you already own a dog(s) we will require them to attend the meet and greet to ensure the dogs are a suitable match. We will need to sight your current dogs sterilisation and most recent vaccination record prior to the appointment. For the health, safety, and wellbeing of our dogs, K9 Rescue Group does not adopt dogs into homes where there is an unsterilised resident dog. This policy reflects responsible pet ownership and helps prevent potential health and behavioural risks associated with unsterilised animals.
FAQ’S
- We do not provide walk throughs of the kennels as you don’t get to see an accurate representation of the dog’s personality. Instead, we require you to submit an adoption application so we can arrange a meet and greet with you, where you will get to meet all of the suitable dogs in one of our exercise yards.
- We run by appointment. As we are running almost entirely by volunteers, we sometimes don’t have the capacity to accept walk ins. For this reason, we require you to complete our adoption application, and our team will contact you to arrange a meet and greet.
- There is a chance that one of the dogs you’re interested in may be adopted before your appointment. We are always running at full capacity so there is a good chance we will have a suitable dog for you.
Adoption Fees
Our adoption fees are:
- Puppy (6 weeks – 6 months): $700
- Adult Dog (7 months – 6 years): $550
- Senior Dog (7+): $425
- Bonded Pair: $845
The adoption fee helps to cover a small portion of the vet work as well as the cost of food and care whilst in the kennel. All dogs are vet checked, sterilised, vaccinated, microchipped and receive monthly flea/worming treatment. On top of this they also receive any out of the ordinary vet care as required whilst in care. The adoption fee doesn’t cover the full expense of the vet care provided, but it helps provide a small portion.
