For the welfare of our beloved dogs and for your own personal safety and wellbeing, there are a number of strict criteria that our volunteers must be able to meet. These include:
- Age limits apply for volunteer’s insurance. The age limit is 18-70.
- Kennel volunteer must be 18 years or older.
- Office volunteers must be 18 years or older.
- As per our policy, to be a volunteer at K9 a police clearance is required. You must be physically fit and capable of carrying out the duties and tasks that might be assigned to you if working in our kennels with dogs.
- You must follow direction given to you by authorised persons and comply with our policies and procedures.
- Once accepted, all new volunteers must attend induction training and pay an induction fee. If you already have a police clearance, please bring it along on the day. If you do not have a police clearance, you can pay $15 on the day of your induction, and we can organise one for you. The volunteer t-shirt is $10 which is paid on the day of the induction and provided to you on your first training shift.
We hope that you can appreciate our need to ensure that all of these criteria are met, but if you have any queries at all then please contact our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss in greater detail.
